Description

A classic dish that combines tender beef with fresh broccoli in a savory sauce, perfect for weeknight dinners or impressing guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound beef (flank steak or sirloin), sliced thin
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice for serving

Instructions

  1. In a slow cooker, combine the sliced beef, soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger. Stir until the beef is well coated.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours, or until the beef is tender.
  3. About 30 minutes before serving, add the broccoli florets.
  4. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry. Stir this into the slow cooker and cook for an additional 30 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve over cooked rice.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the beef in the soy sauce for a few hours before cooking. You can use frozen broccoli if fresh isn’t available; just add it later in the cooking process. Adjust the brown sugar according to your taste.
