Description

A fun and festive bread shaped like a Christmas tree, filled with gooey cheese and fresh herbs, perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 13 ounces canned refrigerator pizza dough
  • Parchment paper (for lining baking sheet)
  • 67 mozzarella cheese sticks
  • 1 large egg (+ 1 tablespoon water for egg wash)
  • 3 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese (divided)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh rosemary (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh basil (finely chopped)
  • 1 clove garlic (grated)
  • 1 jar marinara and/or pesto (for dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400° and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the pizza dough into 30 approximately equal squares. Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks into 30 bite-sized (1 inch) pieces.
  3. Place a piece of mozzarella in the center of each square of dough, then form a ball by rolling it in your hands to seal the edges.
  4. Arrange the balls on the prepared baking sheet seam side down in the shape of a tree, making sure the balls are touching.
  5. In a small bowl, blend the egg and water and lightly brush each ball with this egg wash.
  6. Bake for 16-18 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. While the bread is baking, melt the butter in the microwave, then stir in half of the parmesan cheese and all of the grated garlic and herbs.
  8. Brush the melted mixture onto the rolls, then sprinkle the remaining parmesan cheese over the top. Serve right away with marinara and/or pesto for dipping.

Notes

Serve warm for the best experience. Tightly seal the dough around the cheese to prevent leakage during baking. Can experiment with different cheeses and herbs.
