- 1 cup brown sugar, packed

- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (like almonds or pecans)
Instructions
- In a heavy saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in granulated sugar, brown sugar, and water. Mix well until combined.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly.
- Continue to cook while stirring until the mixture reaches 285°F (soft crack stage) on a candy thermometer, about 10-15 minutes.
- Remove from heat and quickly stir in vanilla extract and salt.
- Pour the hot toffee mixture onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle chocolate chips over the warm toffee and let sit for a minute, then spread the melted chocolate.
- Top with chopped nuts if desired and allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
Notes
