Description

A delightful crunchy and sweet holiday treat perfect for sharing with family and friends.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set it aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  3. Stir in the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt. Cook while stirring constantly until the mixture reaches a deep golden color (8-10 minutes).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Quickly pour the toffee mixture onto the prepared baking sheet and spread into an even layer.
  6. Immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of the warm toffee and let sit for a minute to melt.
  7. Use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee.
  8. If desired, sprinkle the chopped nuts on top of the chocolate.
  9. Allow the toffee to cool completely before breaking it into pieces.

Notes

To store, place in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to two weeks or refrigerate for up to a month.
