Description
Authentic Texas style chili recipe made with beef, smoky spices, and no beans.
Ingredients
3 lbs beef chuck, cut into 1-inch cubes
3 tbsp vegetable oil
2 large onions, finely chopped
6 cloves garlic, minced
4 tbsp chili powder
2 tbsp smoked paprika
2 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
3 tbsp tomato paste
4 cups beef broth
1 cup crushed tomatoes
2 fresh jalapeños, sliced
2 dried ancho chiles, rehydrated and blended
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Heat oil and brown beef cubes in batches.
2. Sauté onions and garlic until golden.
3. Toast spices in the pot, then add tomato paste.
4. Pour in beef broth and crushed tomatoes.
5. Return beef to pot and add ancho chiles, jalapeños.
6. Bring to a simmer, reduce heat and cover.
7. Cook low and slow for 2-3 hours until beef is tender.
8. Stir in apple cider vinegar, adjust seasoning, and serve.
